In this unit, we'll explore the concepts of ecology by studying the importance of rainforests and the problems associated with deforestation.
1. Where do we find tropical rainforests? (2.4.1-3)
Task 1: Complete the map of biomes
Use an atlas or Google to locate the different types of biomes and colour them according to the legend you create. Generally drier areas are light brown colour and wetter areas are a dark green area.
Task 2: Virtual fieldwork
Use the Virtual Biomes button to describe the biome in the tables on the opposite side.
Task 3: Add to the table, the characteristics (temperature, rainfall, animals, plants) you might find in these biomes.
Worksheet and activities are sourced from Askbiologist.com
2. How do we measure climate? What is the climate and abiotic factors of a rainforest?
